Once again, radical left Democrats are caught in a web of their own lies, and it’s time they face the music. While they parade around claiming that crime in Washington, D.C., is at historic lows, the reality is much darker. Jim Agresti, president of Just Facts, reveals just how misleading their statistics truly are.
These Democrats, including Mayor Muriel Bowser and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, want you to believe everything is fine in the nation’s capital. But when you dig into the numbers, you find that the murder rate is actually 83% higher than its low a dozen years ago. So much for “the lowest crime rate in 30 years.” They’re more interested in spinning narratives than facing the facts.
Agresti points out a crucial statistic: the lethality of violent crime in D.C. has skyrocketed by 341% since 2012. While Democrats claim crime is down, the risk of dying during a violent crime has reached alarming heights. Yet, rather than welcome the extra law enforcement resources that President Trump has sent to help the overwhelmed D.C. police, these politicians are protesting and clinging to their false narratives.
Let’s not forget how the Defund the Police movement has fueled this chaos. The left’s vilification of law enforcement led to a retreat from proactive policing, and now they act surprised at the consequences. Crime didn’t magically spike during COVID; it began during the riots fueled by their own rhetoric.
They may think they can cherry-pick statistics to suit their agenda, but the truth is hard to swallow. With one in ten women facing sexual assault in their lifetime and murder rates that should be making headlines, Democrats need to wake up. Their denial is a disservice to the citizens they claim to protect.
As Trump’s National Guard troops bolster community safety, it’s time for these Democrats to stop lying and start taking responsibility. Americans deserve better than politicians who prioritize narratives over public safety. The people are counting on leaders to protect their rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
